Simon met his fair lady now just over two years, having found each other using 'modern technology' let's say. After just over a year together, whilst enjoying a pre-Christmas weekend away in Venice, and whilst suffering with man flu, Simon popped the question whilst overlooking the Grand Canal. She said yes.
Simon & Laura live in Bristol, with two cats, one horse and one tortoise. One day they are hoping to move to sunny Italy and start making bambinos. Before then however, they have the small matter of the wedding...
Ever wondered what a wedding is like from a Grooms perspective? Over the next 12 months Simon, one of the founders of The Bridal File will regulary blog about the preparations for his & Laura's big-day preparations!
Back on it...

Well, after a couple of months of silence I thought it was high time I get back into the spirit of wedding blogging - I wouldn't want to appear on the pages of Heat magazine, our relationship being questioned alongside the likes of Katie Price, and some nobody from The Only Way is Essex.
Things are progressing nicely is the main gist of my wedding news. The first half of the venue is paid for (I'm not sure if this means we could theoretically still have a wedding if we invited half the guests?) and to be honest that's take up most of the allocated wedding budget so far... save save save at the moment. Turns out weddings are quite expensive.
We have managed to put deposits down on a whole raft of things over the last two months however, and I think most importantly we have paid for the dress completely. Laura went to try is on the other week and apparently it fits beautifully... which is a relief I have to say.
We had a good discussion about what you do with a wedding dress post wedding - and we came up with a few ideas. It would seem a shame to wear it once, and then confine it to a hundred house moves, before eventually finding it when we are both 40 and it's been mostly destroyed by whatever creatures eat them.
Front runner at the moment is turning it into some kind of fancy dress that could be worn for aniversary dinners. I kinda like this idea.
In other news, it would be great to here from other people's and grooms about how their plans are coming on, so later on today I am going to add a comments section to the blog. So keep your eyes peeled. I'll also being blogging seperately about things we have sorted...
