Simon met his fair lady now just over two years, having found each other using 'modern technology' let's say. After just over a year together, whilst enjoying a pre-Christmas weekend away in Venice, and whilst suffering with man flu, Simon popped the question whilst overlooking the Grand Canal. She said yes.
Simon & Laura live in Bristol, with two cats, one horse and one tortoise. One day they are hoping to move to sunny Italy and start making bambinos. Before then however, they have the small matter of the wedding...
Ever wondered what a wedding is like from a Grooms perspective? Over the next 12 months Simon, one of the founders of The Bridal File will regulary blog about the preparations for his & Laura's big-day preparations!
A wedding tastic weekend...

Wow, it's been a while since I have blogged.
I'd put this down to busyness, and truth be told not much has happened in the last two weeks from a wedding point of view. We have been busy trying to find someone to make our bridesmaid dresses, and I even spent a lunch hour looking at bridesmaid shoes (surrounded by the masculine environment of a high energy sales room, this did nothing but make me look like I had a shoe fetish). Some nice paper arrived for our 'save the date' concept, and now all that's left to do is me to put my design head on and get the things designed and printed.
More importantly however, we got to spend last weekend on the other side of the wedding fence - spending all day Saturday at my cousins wedding in Chester, and then Sunday at the evening reception for Laura's old workmate Lisa.
I told myself before I went to both that I will try and not assume the role of some kind of wedding critic. However, it inevitably happened (in a nice way I have to add) and myself and Laura had many a hushed conversation about stuff we wanted to blatently steal for our own wedding. One thing that did stand out, by a country mile, is a string quartet to play before the wedding breakfast... cousin Stevie had one at this wedding, and when they started playing a classical version of 'I Gotta Feeling' by Black Eyed Peas both myself and Laura were sold on the idea. They created a brilliant atmosphere, whilst adding a real touch of elegance.
Two brilliant weddings all in all, and I think we ended the weekend with a renewed excitment that it's our turn next (we also had hangovers, not much sleep, and quite a lot less money).
Anyway, will blog again tomorrow as we are meeting a wedding photographer later on. So all that's left to do is wish Stevie & Kat, and Lisa & Dave big congrats on tying the knots!
